Sam’s Town Point
Yer not lost. Yer found.

Remember the frayed tapestry your Pawpaw had in the bathroom, the one of five drunken dogs playing pool? That’s the vibe at Sam’s. Wacky country throwback. The sign above the door says, “Friends are the best part of life.”
Sam’s Town Point started as a social club for the mobile home park in which it sits, and it still feels that way, thank god. Hopefully no amount of discovery, no amount of surrounding development (winking at you “Little Luckenbach”), will change that. Drinks are cheap, seats are hodge-podge, air conditioning is largely non-existent and owner/musician Ramsay Midwood—who performs his contagious cosmic country regularly at 11 p.m. on Saturdays—keeps the dance floor packed by booking some of Austin’s finest talent, from Guthrie Girls and Sentimental Family Band to Shinyribs and the Little Elmore Reed Blues Band.
Insider tip: If the front parking lot is full, loop all the way around back to the empty field and come in from the back side under the fairy lights. It’ll feel extra authentic.

FUN FACT: This spot once marked “the point” where Austin’s city limits meet the Travis County border. “Sam” refers to Sammy Grossman, a Chicago businessman who helped fund the social club in the early days.
